Inclusion Criteria

Preterm infants less than 32 weeks gestation and less than 1250g birth weight who are hemodynamically stable (blood pressure not requiring boluses or pressors) and could be started on enteral tube feeds within 72 hours of birth.

Exclusion Criteria

1. Infants with evidence or suspicion of any major congenital malformation such as congenital intestinal obstruction or perforation, gastroschisis, large omphalocele, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, chromosomal anomalies or craniofacial malformations.

2. Refusal of parental consent.

Primary Outcome Measures

Primary outcome will be time taken to reach full enteral feeds (in days) calculated from the day tube feeds are initiated.Timepoint: Full feeds will be defined as an enteral intake of 150ml/kg/day, which should be tolerated for at least 48hours.
