1)Patients above 40 years of age of any gender undergoing lower limb elective orthopedic surgery under spinal anaesthesia
2)ASA I, II, III physical status
3)Intraoperative supine position for surgery
1) Patients who have impaired hearing or are deaf in either or both ears
2) History of mental illness (cognitive impairment)
3) Associated head (traumatic brain injury), chest and pelvic injuries
4) Any contraindication to spinal anaesthesia (refusal of consent, bleeding diathesis, infection of overlying skin)

Name Time Method Visual Analogue Scale for Anxiety (VAS-A) scoreTimepoint: Visual Analogue Scale for Anxiety (VAS-A) score 1 hour preoperatively and 1 hour postopertively

Name Time Method Visual Analogue Scale for Pain (VAS-P) score and rescue analgesia requirementTimepoint: at time 0, 2 hourly for first 6 postoperative hours ,thereafter 6 hourly for the next 18 postoperative hours
