Inclusion Criteria
- experience fear of falling on a regular basis
- avoid activities due to this fear at least regularly
- report a fair or poor perceived general health
- live in the community
- 70 years of age or older
Exclusion Criteria
- confined to bed
- waiting for nursing home admission
- unable to communicate in Dutch

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method <p>The primary outcomes are fear of falling, avoidance behavior, catastrophizing<br /><br>about<br /><br>falls, perceived consequences of falling and anxious and depressed mood. These<br /><br>outcomes will be assessed before randomization, immediately after the<br /><br>intervention (3 months after baseline) and 12 months later. </p><br>

Name Time Method <p>As secondary outcomes, health-related quality of life, falls<br /><br>management/perceived control over falling, number of falls and utilization of<br /><br>care will be assessed.
