  • •\-Rheumatoide arthritis; American College of Rheumatology criteria for RA
  • •\-disease duration of 10\-15 year
  • •\-informed consent

Exclusion Criteria

  • •Rheumatoid arthritis patients:
  • •\-Pregnancy
  • •\-Diabetes mellitus (fasting blood glucose \* 7\.0 mmol/L)
  • •\-Renal impairment (serum creatinine \*:140 \*mol/L)
  • •\-Recent Surgery
  • •\-Myocardial infarction (MI) or sepsis in the past three months;Healthy age and sex matched controls:
  • •\-Pregnancy
  • •\-Diabetes mellitus (fasting blood glucose \* 7\.0 mmol/L)
  • •\-Renal impairment (serum creatinine \*:140 \*mol/L)
  • •\-Recent Surgery
