Inclusion Criteria

Adult refugees from Ukraine with PTSD, diagnosis using a self-report questionnaire (Post-traumatic Diagnostic Scale, PDS). The willingness to process these events with an interpreter-assisted EMDR group intervention or to participate in the stabilization group and be randomly assigned to one of these groups is also a prerequisite. Inclusion in the study subject to voluntary and informed consent to participate in the study.

Exclusion Criteria

Participants who report active suicidal tendencies, self-injurious behavior, current alcohol/drug abuse or psychotic symptoms. This will be assessed by a detailed medical history before inclusion in the study.

Primary Outcome Measures

Symptom burden of post-traumatic stress disorder with questionnaire Posttraumatic Diagnostic Scale (PDS) and International Trauma Questionnaire (ITQ). PDS will be collected before inclusion (T1), after the end of the intervention (T5), and at follow-up (FU) 4 weeks after T5. ITQ will be collected at T1, before each intervention session except the first (T2, T3, T4), after the end of the study (T5), and at follow-up (FU).

Symptom burden depression and generalized anxiety disorder using the Patient Health Questionnaire-4 (PHQ-4), somatization disorder (SSD-12), psychological well-being (WHO-5), stress (stress thermometer). These will be collected before inclusion in the study (T1), after the end of the intervention (T5) and at follow-up (FU) 4 weeks after T5.
