We will compare two methods of putting a rubber tube from your nose into your stomach during surgery when you are unconscious.

Adult patients aged 18 to 60 years, belonging to American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA)
physical status class I or II having modified Mallampati class 1 or 2, undergoing surgery under
general anaesthesia with orotracheal intubation requiring nasogastric tube insertion will be
included in the study.
1. Patients with base of skull fracture, maxillofacial or cervical spine injury
2. Deformities of pharynx or larynx, nasal mass, deviated nasal septum, oesophageal
pathology, neck abnormalities, history of head and neck radiotherapy, obese patients with
BMI > 30Kg/m 2.
3. Coagulopathies or on anticoagulant medication.

Name Time Method To compare the overall success rate in nasogastric tube insertion using SORT manoeuvre and <br/ ><br>NFLP method in patients undergoing surgery under general anaesthesia with orotracheal <br/ ><br>intubation.Timepoint: Measurement of baseline vitals just before introducing nasogastric tube, measurement of vitals immediately after nasogastric tube placement and after 3 minutes and after 5 minutes of nasogastric tube placement

Name Time Method To compare the time taken for insertion, number of attempts and first attempt success in nasogastric tube insertion using SORT maneuver and NFLP method in patients undergoing surgery under general anaesthesia with orotracheal intubation. <br/ ><br>To compare the inserterâ??s satisfaction in both methods.Timepoint: Time from induction of anaesthesia till correct placement of nasogastric tube.
