Inclusion Criteria

Apparently healthy young girls (17-20 years) having normal hemoglobin and mild to moderate anemia who are willing to give consent will be included.

Exclusion Criteria

1. Anemic adolescent girls with presence of thalassemia, sickle cell anemia, Hemochromatosis, Chronic gastric diseases (IBD, Crohnâ??s disease, gastric ulcers, celiac disease, hemorrhagic disease) and renal disease will be excluded from the study

2. Subjects with excessive bleeding during menstrual cycles

3. Subjects who have consumed any antibiotics, antacids, probiotics, prebiotics, and medications containing alcohol or any other products capable of drastically altering the gut microbiome, within a period of at least four weeks before fecal sample collection will also be excluded from the study.
