Inclusion Criteria

a) Individuals with healthy periodontium.

b) Patients with diagnosis of generalized gingivitis.

c) Patients with diagnosis of generalized stage III grade B periodontitis.

(Periodontal health, gingivitis and periodontitis definition will be based on the classification of Gingival and Periodontal Diseases as proposed in 2017 World Workshop)

d) Patients with diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus ( HbA1c < 7 %)

e) Presence of at least 20 natural teeth.

Exclusion Criteria

a) Patients with any systemic diseases other than Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

b) Subjects who have undergone periodontal therapy in last six months preceding the start of the study.

c) Individuals who have history of any antimicrobial or anti- inflammatory therapy in the last six months.

d) Smokers.

e) Pregnant, lactating and postmenopausal women.
