a) generalized gingivitis (BOP>30% (Chapple et al., 2018)); b) a minimum of 20 teeth; c) aged 18 to 49 with a BMI of 18-30 kG/m2; d) self-reported Western diet conditions with daily intake of processed carbohydrates, sugar, animal protein and other WD-characteristics assessed by verbal anamnesis
a) presence of periodontitis (CPITN (Ainamo et al. 1982) two times >2); b) smoking; c) severe illnesses (e.g. HIV, chronic hepatitis, cancer, illnesses of the salivary glands or the gastrointestinal tract, diabetes mellitus); d) pregnancy or breast feeding; e) intake of antibiotics within 6 months prior or during study; f) intake of anti-inflammatory drugs; g) on medication affecting gingival bleeding; h) intake of probiotics; i) strict vegetarian or vegan, low carb or paleo diet; j) dislike or intolerance of fish, milk, milk products; k) allergic to fish, fruits, nuts; l) eating disorder (anorexia nervosa, bulimia, binge eating, or fasting).
