Inclusion Criteria
Consecutive patients undergoing thyroidectomy for benign or malignant thyroid diseases with any of the following histopathology
1. papillary thyroid carcinoma
2. thyroiditis and
3. both papillary thyroid carcinoma and thyroiditis
Exclusion Criteria
Patients with the following histopathology, namely
Medullary thyroid carcinoma, Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma, Follicular thyroid carcinoma and benign thyroid histology other than thyroiditis
