Painful CMC 1 osteoarthritis at initial presentation
Type II and III according to Eaton's classification on x-ray at initial presentation
Minimum of 3 months nonsurgical treatment before treatment with operation
Treated with trapeziectomy with ligament reconstruction and/or tendon interposition
1. STT osteoarthritis (type IV on Eaton*s classification) at initial presentation
2. Hyperlaxity (syndromes)
3. Systemic degenerative poly or panarthritis (RA, gout, psoriasis)
4. Less than five years after operation

Name Time Method <p>We hypothesize that, patients who have undergone trapeziectomy combined with<br /><br>ligament reconstruction and/or tendon interposition compared to pyrocarbon disc<br /><br>interpostion:<br /><br>1. Have comparable functional recovery<br /><br>2. Have comparable function of the thumb with return to previous work after<br /><br>surgery<br /><br>3. Have comparable reduction in pain after surgery<br /><br>4. Show comparable satisfaction after treatment<br /><br>5. Have comparable reoperations due to postoperative persisting pain </p><br>
