Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • •age more than 18 years
  • •respiratory rate more than 24 breath per minuts
  • •use of accessory muscle or abdominal paradox
  • •room air oxygen saturation below 95 %

Exclusion Criteria

  • •Cardiac arrest
  • •Unstable medical condition e.g. shock myocardial infarction
  • •Respiratory failure defined by respiratory rate \> 35 breath per minutes and oxygen saturation \< 90% after oxygen theary
  • •High risk for aspiration
  • •Large amount of secretion
  • •Glasgow coma scale \< 13
  • •unco\-operated patients
  • •untreated pneumothorax
  • •recent airway or upper GI tract or esophageal surgery
  • •required immediate intubation
