Inclusion Criteria

patients older than 18 years with periodontitis in upper molar teeth; who underwent previous non-surgical periodontal therapy and showed no improvement in periodontal disease.

Exclusion Criteria

Maxillary molars with furcation injury that simultaneously had caries; cervical resorption; fused roots; metallic crowns or amalgam restorations near the alveolar bone crest; Endodontically treated teeth that could generate artifacts compromising image quality; Pregnant or lactating women.

Primary Outcome Measures

It is expected to find efficacy in the indication of CBCT for the assessment of furcation types, when compared to the trans-surgical evaluation used as the gold standard.
Secondary Outcome Measures

It is also expected to establish the most cost-effective voxel size for evaluation of furcation lesions in maxillary molars.;Finally, it is hoped that the results found will assist periodontists and radiologists in the indications of the exams, as well as in the diagnosis, planning and treatment of upper molar furcation lesions. These data may also contribute to the literature in future research.
