Clinical inclusion criteria:
1.One or both mandibular third molars
2.Age between 18 -50 years
3.Healthy patients or those with controlled medical comorbidities (ASA 1 or 2)
4.Patient willing to undergo surgery for removal of impacted mandibular third molars.
Radiographic Inclusion Criteria:
Close approximation of roots of lower third molars to the mandibular canal as evidenced by the observance of one or more radiographic signs belonging to Rood & Shehab’s criteria namely darkening of the root, dark and bifid root, deflection of the roots, narrowing of the roots, interruption of the white line of the mandibular canal wall, diversion of the mandibular canal, and narrowing of the canal [11].
1.Patients either below 18 or above 50 years of age
2.Uncontrolled medically compromised conditions
3.Patients with previous history of any nerve disorders or any disease with nerve involvement
4.Patients not willing to undergo surgery for removal of impacted mandibular third molars
Radiographic Exclusion Criteria:
Patients with impacted mandibular third molars that are not in close proximity to the inferior alveolar neurovascular bundle

Name Time Method Inferior alveolar nerve injury manifested as either numbness or paresthesia or anesthesia or burning along the distribution of the nerveTimepoint: day 1 - day 7 after removal of mandibular third molars
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method The secondary outcome will include the number of patients with an objective IAN injury & permanent IAN injury more than 6 months duration.Timepoint: 6 months after the surgical removal of impacted mandibular third molars
