Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • 1\.age group: 2\-14yrs
  • 2\.all patients having indication for mechanical 3\.ventilation ( Invasive and Non invasive )
  • requiring sedation for more than 24hours

Exclusion Criteria

  • 1\.Dexmedetomidine within last 7 days prior to admission
  • 2\.Sedation \>72hrs prior to screening
  • 3\.Cardiac failure or Arterial hypotension
  • 4\.Known hypersensitivity to dexmedetomidine, midazolam or any of their formulation ingredients and their rescue medications
