Inclusion Criteria
Subjects were included if they reported
1) sustained and repeated pain in the UT muscle over 3 months
2) tightness and palpable tender spots in the UT
3) self-reported pain visual analog scale (VAS) rating of the UT of > 3 ?
4) pressure pain threshold (PPT) < 2.9 ?/? in males, < 2.1 ?/? in females
Exclusion Criteria
Subjects were excluded if they reported
1) a previous life-threatening disease,
2) whiplash and trauma
3) arthritis in the neck or shoulder
4) diagnosis of shoulder impingement syndrome
