Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Patients scheduled to receive general anesthesia with the laryngeal mask airway for short duration elective surgeries. The inclusion criteria were patients with American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status I\-II, aged 19\-70 years.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Patients were excluded if they had a recent history of upper respiratory tract infection or had contraindications to the use of the laryngeal mask airway, such as a body mass index \= 40 kg/m2, symptomatic hiatus hernia and severe esophageal reflux disease.
