Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • ASA physical status grade 1 or 2\.
  • Children planned for elective surgery and requiring general anaesthesia with orotracheal intubation.
  • Surgeries expected to last 1\-3 hours.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Children with oropharyngeal or neck malformations.
  • Children who had previously required tracheal intubation or tracheostomy.
  • Presence of stridor or dysphonia.
  • Children requiring surgery of neck, larynx or oropharynx.
  • Children requiring a nasogastric or orogastric tube.
  • Children requiring or receiving steroid medication.
