1. Adult patient of either sex between 18 years to 60 years for surgery under general anesthesia belonging to American society of Anaesthesiologist(ASA) Class 1 or 2 with BMI less than 30 and scheduled for elective surgery under general anesthesia will be included in study for comparative evaluation of dexmedetomidine and butorphanol for attenuation of etomidate-induced myoclonus.
1. Patients with bradycardia (heart rate less than 60 per minute , having arrythmias or AV block, on beta blockers or having pacemaker in situ
2. Known case of hypoadrenalism
3. Pregnant or lactating patients
4. Known hypersensitivity to etomidate
5. Patient refusal
