ASA I/II patients
Either gender
Age between 18 and 60 years
Undergoing elective surgical procedures under general anesthesia
History suggestive of uncontrolled hypertension, epilepsy, bradycardia, heart blocks, heart failure, psychiatric disease, sepsis or systemic infection, neurological disease, asthma, chronic cough
History of upper respiratory infection during the 2 weeks before surgery
Allergy to dexmedetomidine/butorphanol
Those having received any analgesic or sedative within previous 24 hours
Pregnant or lactating women
