- Ages
- 18 Years to 99 Years (—)
- Sex
- All
Inclusion Criteria
- •Individuals at minimum age of 18, giving informed written consent, having a one-sided lateral epicondylitis (LE) with local pain in the elbow region for more than 4 weeks and positive pain provocation by resisted wrist extension at evaluation visit (Cozen´s test) with a NRS of 4 or more
Exclusion Criteria
- •Prior acupuncture treatment with press tack needles
- •History of major elbow injury or surgery
- •Complex regional pain syndrome of the hand or forearm
- •Other disorders possibly influencing existing elbow symptoms
- •Cervical neuropathy, paralysis or neurological changes of the affected upper limb
- •Fractures or open wounds at the acupuncture application sites
- •Mental disorders possibly affecting the examination
- •Inflammatory or infectious arthritis
- •Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- •Noncompliance with the research protocol
- •Taking pain medication within 24 hours before treatment
- •Having corticosteroid injections at the elbow within 4 weeks preceding the study.
