Inclusion Criteria
i) Children in the age group of 3 to 5 years with
anemia (Hb 7-10 g/dl )
ii) Permanent resident of study area and attending
AWC regularly
iii) Expects to remain in the area during the study
period
iv) Consent of parents
Exclusion Criteria
i) Children with severe anemia (Hb< 7 g/dl). These
would be referred to hospital
ii) Children with illness requiring hospitalization
iii)Children who are likely to move away from study
area during the study period
iv)Visible severe wasting
v)Children suffering from chronic diseases, which
require therapeutic intervention
vi) Children more than 68 months of age (as they are
likely to become six years of age during
intervention period)
