Inclusion Criteria

a)Patients fulfilling the ICD-10 criteria for Schizophrenia who are prescribed ECT by treating psychiatrist.

b)Patients going to receive a course of electroconvulsive therapy as advised by treating team.

c)Patient or Nominated representative of the patient giving informed consent both for ECT and for this study.

Exclusion Criteria

a)Substance use disorder in dependence pattern except caffeine and nicotine .

b)Patients diagnosed as suffering from major medical or neurological disorder by history or examination or investigation.

c)Those patients who received electroconvulsive therapy in previous 6 months.

d)Patients with intellectual disability disorder and other comorbid psychiatric illness.

e)Catatonia patients

f)Patients not amenable for baseline cognitive assessment
