Inclusion Criteria
Patients aged 18-years-old and above with acute respiratory failure who were intubated and mechanically ventilated in Medical ICU.
Exclusion Criteria
Patients who were treated as end-of-life care with life expectancy less than one month, infected with multi-drug resistant organisms, pregnant, already had tracheostomy on admission, and patients with chronic respiratory failure requiring long term non-invasive ventilation and patient who had expired before weaning attempt.
