Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • •1\. Diagnosis of depression according to ICD\-10 (F31\.3 – F34\)
  • •2\. Minimum length of stay of three days before enrollment in the study
  • •3\. informed consent of patient
  • •4\. MMSE \< 19 points and the ability to explain the content of the study in the patients own words\*
  • •5\. Prescription for exercise therapy (this includes cardiovascular resilience)

Exclusion Criteria

  • •1\. Clinical exclusion of delirium (based on CAM )
  • •2\. combined diagnosis of depression and an alcohol\-induced neurodegenerative disease
  • •3\. acute and/or severe cardiac disorder, neurological disease, and/or chronic orthopedic disorder
  • •4\. Mini Mental Status Examination \= 19 points
