Pregnant women from ethnic minority populations (45 Afro-Caribbean, 45 Middle East or Far East or Indian subcontinent) and 45 Caucasians as controls

Name Time Method Main Objective: Main objective: To compare the Vitamin D status of pregnant women from ethnic minorities versus Caucasians in North West Thames, London and to evaluate the effects of daily and of single-dose vitamin D supplementation in pregnant women and their babies in the last trimester;Secondary Objective: ;Primary end point(s): Main outcome measures: Cord blood calcium and vitamin D levels in the neonate; Secondary outcome measures: Maternal and cord parathyroid hormone and calcium levels at delivery
