Inclusion Criteria

Age > 17 years
Admitted to Hospital and treated for pneumonia
A new infiltrate on chest x-ray consistent with pneumonia
At least one of the following symptoms:
cough
purulent expectoration
fever
pathological lung aucultation

Not hospitalized 14 dyas prior to admission
signed consent form
Are the trial subjects under 18? no

Exclusion Criteria

Active pulmonary tuberculosis
Immunosuppression assesed by treateing physician
Involentary treatment
Planned antibiotic treatment for more than 3 days for another indaction than pneumonia
Patients where acitve treatment is topped within the first 48 hours
Women who are pregnant or breast-feeding.
