Inclusion Criteria

Pregnant women at risk of developing hypertension (any one

of the following criteria)

i. Family history of hypertension (first degree relatives)

ii. Hypertension or eclampsia in sisters, mothers or aunts.

iii. All primigravida

iv. Hypertension in previous pregnancy

v. Extremes of reproductive age

vi. Body mass index (BMI) >35 kg/m2

vii. Multiple pregnancy

Exclusion Criteria

i. Patients undergoing any kind of yoga therapy and/or structured exercises

ii. Patients who are not fit for practicing yoga which includes mental illness, neurological illness, musculoskeletal problems

iii. Those who are not willing to deliver in JIPMER

iv. Recurrent pregnancy loss

will be excluded from the study.

Twenty weeks of yoga therapy is expected to decrease the incidence of new onset hypertension in pregnant women who are at risk of developing gestational hypertensionTimepoint: Yoga intervention will be given for 20 weeks.
Secondary Outcome Measures

Twenty weeks of yoga therapy in pregnant women who are at risk of developing gestational hypertension is expected to <br/ ><br>improve cardiovascular autonomic functions, <br/ ><br> fetal and maternal outcomes, <br/ ><br>reduce oxidate stress marker (Malondialdehyde) <br/ ><br> fasting blood glucose, <br/ ><br> insulin resistance, <br/ ><br> lipid risk factors, <br/ ><br> inflammatory markers (hsCRP, IL-6), <br/ ><br> endothelial dysfunction marker (Nitric oxide) <br/ ><br>Timepoint: Yoga intervention will be given for 20 weeks.
