Inclusion Criteria

Healthy participants:
1) Participants are able to understand the given information
2) After being fully informed about the study and the risks informed consent should be signed
3) Participants are in excellent mental and physical condition
4) Age: > 18 yrs, < 55, and matched with PTSD patients
5) Body mass index: 19-26 kg/m²;
6) Sex: Male ;PTSD patients:
1) PTSD diagnosis as assessed with the SCID
2) Participants are able to understand the given information
3) After being fully informed about the study and the risks informed consent should be signed
4) Body mass index: 19-26 kg/m²;
5) Sex: Male

Exclusion Criteria

Exclusion criteria healthy participants
1) Use of medication (or remedies containing corticosteroids)
2) High blood pressure
3) Recent or past psychiatric problems
4) somatic illnesses

Exclusion criteria participants with PTSD
1) somatic illnesses
2) Repetitive psychotic episodes
3) The use of benzodiazepines more than the equivalent of 20 mg of oxazepam
4) The use of antipsychotic medication
5) Substance abuse and/or addiction (alcohol and drugs)
N.B. Stable use of SSRI*s is allowed.;For the MRI scanner: exclusion criteria: Metal implants, surgical clips, pacemakers, and left-handedness.
