Inclusion Criteria

1)Either gender, >= 18 years old, attending adult medical units at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, and Dr. TMA. Pai Hospital, Udupi, Karnataka

2)Microscopically proven acute P.vivax malaria

3)Fever defined as > 37.5°C tympanic or oral temperature or a history of fever within the last 3 days.

4)Written informed consent

Exclusion Criteria

1)Pregnant and/or lactating women

2)Patients with G6PD deficiency
