Inclusion Criteria

Patients who were hospiatlized for acute severe UC and satisfying Truelove and Witts criteria for severe colitis; = 6 bloody stools per day and one or more of the following: decreased hemoglobin (<10.5 g/dL), elevated ESR (>30 mm/h), fever (>37.8?), or tachycardia (>90 bpm)

Exclusion Criteria

?Patients who were not treated with steroid or anti-TNF agents.
?Patients diagnosed with an unclassified-IBD
