Inclusion Criteria

Patients aged between 18-60 years of either sex, belonging to

American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status (I and II) scheduled to undergo

tubeless percutaneous nephrolithotomy under spinal anaesthesia for a single renal stone of

>2cm diameter and requiring single subcostal puncture will be included in this study.

Exclusion Criteria

Contraindications to spinal anaesthesia such as coagulopathy infection at the site of

lumbar puncture Known history of hypersensitivity/anaphylaxis/ contraindications to ropivacaine or its

components Pregnancy Mental disorders/illness Excessive intraoperative bleeding More than one puncture and requiring supra-costal puncture ,BMI >30kgm-2 Chronic drug/analgesic abuse Refusal to give consent Surgical procedure >3hrs

will be excluded from the study
