Inclusion Criteria

The patients enrolled were aged between 18 to 60 yrs, weighing 40 to 80kg and belonging to either gender scheduled for elective standard PCNL requiring 14/16 French nephrostomy tube at the end of procedure with single subcostal nephrostomy tract under general anesthesia. The average stone size was 2.5cm

Exclusion Criteria

Patients with renal stones requiring more than a single puncture with supracostal punctures, BMI >30, patients with uncontrolled diabetes& hypertension, excessive bleeding during the procedure, surgical procedure lasting more than 3 hrs duration patients with ASA grades III and IV, delayed recovery or requiring post-operative ventilation were excluded from the study.
