Study Overview
Brief Summary
Forward head posture is defined as anterior projection of head with respect to the trunk. Many studies have reported increasing occurrence of forward head posture among young adults. Increased screen time and prolonged sedentary activities due to advanced technologies are some of the common causes leading to adaptation of forward head posture. There is muscular imbalance between flexors and extensors of neck and upper back muscles which increases load on cervical spine causing complications including neck pain, cervical radiculopathy and muscle spasm. It can sometimes be associated with rounded shoulders, adding to complications of forward head posture further to shoulder impingement and scapular dyskinesia. While research has identified different methods for correction of forward head posture, there remains a significant gap in understanding the effectiveness of specific exercises for posture correction. Reverse plank exercise has been suggested as a potential intervention for correction of rounded shoulders in young adults. However specific effects of reverse plank on craniovertebral angle in young adults is unclear. Total 33 participants with forward head posture will be included in the study. Participants will be recruited according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Craniovertebral angle and forward shoulder angle will be assessed using photogrammetry method. Measurements will be taken three times and the average of all the measurements will be calculated. Reverse plank exercise will be demonstrated and three trials will be given. Participants will perform reverse plank exercise on firm mattress placed on the ground for 3 days per week for 2 weeks with 3 sets of 30 seconds hold and 30 seconds rest interval per session. Reassessment of craniovertebral angle and forward shoulder angle will be done on 3rd and 6th visit. Descriptive analysis of data will be performed and appropriate parametric and non-parametric tests will be used based on distribution of samples.

Outcomes
Primary Outcomes
Craniovertebral angle will be defined as the angle between the horizontal line passing through C7 spinous process and the line extending from the tragus of the external auditory meatus to the C7 spinous process through photogrammetry method.
Time Frame: Assessment will be done at the baseline, 3rd visit ,and 6th visit
Secondary Outcomes
- Forward shoulder angle will be defined as the angle between the horizontal line passing through C7 spinous process and the line extending from C7 spinous process to the acromion process of the shoulder through photogrammetry method.(Assessment will be done at the baseline, 3rd visit ,and 6th visit)
