Inclusion Criteria

(1) Adult patients (age >= 18 years),

(2) Undergoing non-cardiac surgery,

(3) Admitted to the surgical intensive care unit (SICU), and high dependency units (HDU).

(4) At a high risk of postoperative AKI.

High-risk patients referred to as patients having at least one of the following conditions:

(a)Preoperative comorbidities, including

i.Hypertension (HTN),

ii.Diabetes mellitus (DM),

iii.Coronary heart disease,

iv.Congestive heart failure (CHF),

v.Cerebrovascular disease,

vi.Chronic kidney disease not required dialysis,

vii.Lung disease, or liver disease;

(b) Major surgery, defined as surgery duration >=2h;

(c) Ongoing organ dysfunction, defined as the sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) score >= 2 from one single organ system.

Exclusion Criteria

Patients with any of the following criteria will be excluded:

(1) Chronic kidney disease stage 5 or requiring long-term dialysis;

(2) Surgery involving kidney, such as nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy, nephroureterectomy, or kidney transplantation;

(3) AKI events before surgery

(4) Patient Refusal; and

(5) Cardiac Surgery patients
