Patients requiring the maxillary canine retraction in the extraction space of maxillary 1st premolar extraction.
2. First permanent premolar extractions indicated for correcting the existing dental malocclusion (to eliminate overjet or crowding)
3. A healthy periodontium with no visible sign of periodontal breakdown.
4. No dilacerations of a canine root as assessed on pretreatment OPG.
5. No history of medical problems, which may interfere with the normal orthodontic tooth movement.
1.The patients with the history of long-term use of NSAIDs and corticosteroids as these drugs interfere with the normal orthodontics tooth movement.
2.Patients with the presence of occlusal interference, hindering the tooth movement of canine.
3.Patients with skeletal cross bite, one-sided chewing, and presence of any parafunctional habit.
4.Periodontally compromised patients were precluded, as the bone quality in such patients is poor, which may have an effect on tooth movement
5.Patients with questionable oral hygiene.
6.Patients with any systemic disease.
