Brief Summary

Burnout is a state of emotional, physical and mental exhaustion caused by prolonged exposure to stresses at work. Due to burnout workers have lost sight at their own personal health and well-being. Several studies have also found a high prevalence of burnout and depression among healthcare workers, with rates higher than those of age-similar individuals pursuing other professionals. Galen the Greek physician (130-200 AD) states that, “The physician will hardly be thought very careful of the health of his patients if he neglects his ownâ€.

Yoga is a technique that brings an improvement on mental and physical level by means of posture, breathing control methods and silencing the mind through meditation. Scientific breathing techniques and meditative practices administered together seem to be effective to reduce burnout and anxiety in healthcare workers, providing them with consciousness and ability to work in stressful conditions.

After the hectic duty hours of healthcare workers, a short duration yoga module is required that can be easily practiced by every professional. Therefore in this study we aim to check the efficacy of 20 min yoga comprising ANYB and meditative practices for reducing burnout among healthcare workers.
