All patients on critical care unit or in the operating room requiring a central venous catheter were included in the study after informed consent.
Exclusion Criteria
Age <18 years
Participation in other studies
Missing informed consent
Contraindication for central venous catheter
Contraindication for subclavian central venous catheter
Refusal of central venous catheter
Thrombosis in the vessel
