CASES
•All consenting patients who presented with the first episode of MI diagnosed as per the standard protocol
• between 25 and 65 years of age
CONTROLS
•All consenting inpatients admitted to the General Medicine Department
•age between 25 and 65 years,
•no history of MI or cardiac risk factors (e.g. diabetes) or major diseases (e.g. AIDS, cancer, COPD, and physical deformations)
•Patients with unproven MI
•History of any Cardiac diseases
•Any current or past history of psychiatric illness and those on antipsychotic medications
•major diseases (AIDS, cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease [COPD], and physical deformations)
