Hemodynamic Changes in Hypertensive Patients during Dental Extraction: Mepivacaine vs. Lidocaine

Phase 4
Completed
Conditions
Tooth extraction, Hypertension
Tooth extraction, Hypertension, Lidocaine, Mepivacaine
Registration Number
TCTR20231014004
Lead Sponsor
Dr. Mohan Deshpande
Brief Summary

In comparing Lidocaine and Mepivacaine, both exhibited similar onset and volume of anesthesia. Mepivacaine, however, significantly prolonged anesthesia duration (p-value of 0.028). Blood pressure changes were comparable; both drugs led to SBP increase (p-value less than 0.0001) and Mepivacaine increased DBP (p-value of 0.03). Heart rate variations showed no significant differences. Yet, Mepivacaine provided superior pain control (p-value less than 0.0479), making it advantageous during extractions.
