1. Children of age group 3-11 years
2. Patients of either sex
2. Clinical signs and symptoms of an URTI with a duration of 24 hours or more with or without fever >=37.5áµ?C
3. At least 1 of 3 types of URTI symptoms â?? nasal (plugged nose, runny nose, sneezing), pharyngeal (scratchy throat, sore throat, pharyngeal hyperemia), and cough (ordinary cough without suspicion of acute lower respiratory tract disease)
4. At least 1 of 5 general symptoms â?? feeling tired, weakness, body ache, irritable or whiney, or less active.
5. Literate guardians or attendants capable of understanding and filling the WURSS-21, CARIFS and URI-SSS questionnaires in local vernaculars, i.e., Bengali, Hindi and/or English.
1. Severe or complicated course of URTI â?? bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis, otitis media, coinfection with bacterial agents, and exacerbation of pre-existing medical conditions, particularly asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, meningitis and sepsis
2. Signs of acute LRTI
3. COVID-19 positive cases as diagnosed by rapid antigen kit or RT-PCR method
4. Current symptoms mainly induced by other acute ENT diseases
5. Daily use of antibiotics, steroids and cytotoxic agents
6. Vulnerable population â?? unconscious, non-ambulatory, too sick for consultation, differently abled, terminally or critically ill subjects
7. Diagnosed cases of uncontrolled or life-threatening illness affecting quality of life or any organ failure
8. Self-reported immune-compromised state (e.g., HIV)
9. Undergoing homeopathic treatment for any chronic disease(s) within last 6 months
10. Simultaneous participation in any other clinical trials
