Type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus, chronic hypertension, heart, renal or hepatic diseases, congenital malformations, autoimmune diseases, or uncontrolled thyroid disease. If they are taking medications that may affect endocrine metabolism (insulin, metformin, and/or corticosteroids), or if they had bariatric surgery.
