Inclusion Criteria

Pregnant women �18 years not in active labour undergoing caesarean section

Exclusion Criteria

Active labour with cervical dilation �6cm

ïâ??· Women with known or suspected antenatal hypertensive disorders of pregnancy

ïâ??· Intrapartum hypertension (defined as a single systolic blood pressureââ?°Â¥ 160 mmHg, or

two consecutive blood pressures of � 140 mmHg systolic or � 90 mmHg diastolic

taken 30 min apart),

ïâ??· Antepartum haemorrhage of ââ?°Â¥ 50 ml,

ïâ??· Confirmed maternal coagulation disorder

ïâ??· Intrauterine fetal death in the current pregnancy

ïâ??· Women who would decline blood and blood products,

ïâ??· Women with peripheral vascular, cardiac or hepatic disease,

ïâ??· Women with epilepsy,
