Vitamin D level of <50nmol/L
Not currently in another trial

Exclusion Criteria
Serum creatinine > 200 umol/L
Liver function tests >3 x upper limit of normal
Corrected calcium >2.55 mmol/L or <2.15 mmol/L
Metastatic malignancy
Inability to give informed consent

Name Time Method Main Objective: To ascertain whether vitamin D improves endothelial function in type 2 diabetes, as measured by flow-mediated dilatation of the brachial artery;Secondary Objective: To ascertain whether vitamin D reduces pulse wave velocity, improves insulin sensitivity and alters renin-angiotensin system parameters in type 2 diabetics;Primary end point(s): Last visit of patient
