Overview

Brief Summary

In Overhead Athletes shoulder injuries like rotator cuff lesions, impingement, and instability are common, they may occur due to direct impact or may result due to overuse. It has been studied that there is a 61% prevalence of scapular dyskinesia in overhead athletes when compared to non-overhead athletes who show a 33% prevalence. Scapular dyskinesia occurs due to inflexibility, weakness, and imbalance between the scapular muscles like the relation between serratus anterior, trapezius, and rhomboids. In the available literature, no study grades the progression of scapular dyskinesia according to muscle imbalance which should be done for a better understanding of the severity of scapular dyskinesia. The scapulohumeral playing an important role in throwing biomechanics may affect the pitching technique of the athlete which in turn will affect his or her game. Furthermore, the association of scapular muscles and pulmonary function is seen. Hence pulmonary function parameters and their association with scapular dyskinesia must be checked. The aim is to find the predictors of the stages of scapular dyskinesia in overhead athletes. This study will include the pulmonary parameters, scapular muscle strength, and sports performance will be correlated.
