- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Peak Volume of oxygen (VO2) measured by incremental, maximal exercise test conducted on a cycle ergometer.[0, 3, 6 months following randomization];Quality of life. This measurement will be made using the Kidney Disease Quality of Life (KDQOL) questionnaire.[0, 3, 6 months following randomization];Systemic Inflammation interleukin -1(IL-1), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-10 (IL-10), tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) and TNF-alpha soluble receptors I and II will be measured by immunoassay.[0, 3, 6 months following randomization];Blood vessel function by Doppler ultrasound[0, 3, 6 months following randomization]
