patients of either sex, age more than 18 years posted for elective or emergency surgery or admitted in ICU requiring central venous catheterization.
1. Patientâ??s refusal
2. Infection at the catheterisation site
3. Coagulation abnormality
4. Cardiac rhythm or conduction disorder
5. Patients with a pacemaker in situ
6. Anatomical deformities of the neck or chest
7. Pneumothorax
8. Trauma to clavicle and upper ribs or cervical spine trauma
9. Any pathology leading to tracheal deviation
10. Pregnant patients

Name Time Method Correct position of Central venous catheter tip in the right subclavian vein; just above the level of carina in a chest radiographTimepoint: 1 hour or earlier when a post procedure radiograph is obtained

Name Time Method umber of skin puncture attempts and needle re-directions; venous access time; catheterization time;length of catheter inserted;haemothorax; pneumothorax;arterial puncture;haematoma; any other complication.Timepoint: 24 hours after the procedure
