Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • •patients of either sex, age more than 18 years posted for elective or emergency surgery or admitted in ICU requiring central venous catheterization.

Exclusion Criteria

  • •1\. Patientâ??s refusal
  • •2\. Infection at the catheterisation site
  • •3\. Coagulation abnormality
  • •4\. Cardiac rhythm or conduction disorder
  • •5\. Patients with a pacemaker in situ
  • •6\. Anatomical deformities of the neck or chest
  • •7\. Pneumothorax
  • •8\. Trauma to clavicle and upper ribs or cervical spine trauma
  • •9\. Any pathology leading to tracheal deviation
  • •10\. Pregnant patients
