Obstetric patients of American society of Anaesthesiology physical status I/II, between 18 and 40 years of age, at 37-42weeks of gestation and undergoing an elective, lower segment caesarean section (CS) for singleton pregnency are included
Parturients not willing to participate in this study
Presence of any contraindication for spinal anaesthesia
History of allergy to study drug
Patients on selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or migraine medications
Ischemic heart disease
cardiac insufficiency
Diabetes melliutus
chronic hypertension
Pregnancy induced hypertension
Placenta previa
Abnormal fetal development
Body mass index >35kg/ sq mt
Height <142 cm
Patients with pre-existing QT prolongation or any cardiac conduction abnormality
