简要总结

  • Congenital scoliosis is a complex three-dimensional condition with variable morphology, posing diagnostic and management challenges. Although several classification systems have been developed to categorize these presentations, their application and comparison within specific population contexts remain underexplored..Most previous studies have focused on either single classifications or retrospective data only .Few have combined classification utility, curve progression, and associated anomalies in one comprehensive study .To date, no study in the Indian population has compared McMaster, Winter, and Kawakami systems while assessing their reliability using three independent raters with statistical rigor .This study also uniquely aims to document cases that remain unclassified, a problem often ignored in classification research

入选标准

  • Children aged 0 to 18 years with a radiologically confirmed diagnosis of congenital scoliosis.
  • Availability of adequate radiological imaging, including at least Standing full-length AP and lateral spine X-rays 3D CT scans (mandatory for prospective cohort; if available for retrospective cases) MRI spine to evaluate for intraspinal anomalies Ultrasound abdomen and echocardiography for evaluation of visceral anomalies Complete clinical records available for retrospective cases (demographics, imaging, follow-up).
  • For the prospective cohort: Informed consent obtained from parents or legal guardians for participation and radiological evaluation.

排除标准

  • Children with scoliosis of non-congenital etiology, including: Idiopathic scoliosis Neuromuscular scoliosis Syndromic scoliosis (e.g., Marfan, Ehlers-Danlos, Neurofibromatosis) Patients with inadequate or missing imaging or clinical documentation.
  • Patients lost to follow-up Patients who have undergone prior spine surgery before initial radiological classification.
